數字數量系列(4):much (及many)

Much這個字有什麼好講呢? 

一般來說,Much都常用於疑問句及否定句. 例如:

How much money do you want?
I don't have much food to eat. 

其實Much不一定不出現在肯定句中, 較常見的有so much/ very much: 

She eats so much ice-cream. I like the movie very much.

以上兩句都是肯定句.

This is much debated issue. 

這句的much也沒有貶義.

Much has been said about him.

這句的much都沒有貶義. 

因此much其實也會用在肯定句,只係比較少,肯定句始終會用a lot of等較多,例如較不會說He has much money, 而係說He has a lot of money. 而其實呢方面many也一樣, 與其說He has many girlfriends, 更多會說He has a lot of girlfriends.
