connecting sentences: adverbs

You may also use an adverb to connect the ideas of two consecutive sentences. We call this kind of adverbs the adverbial adjunct.

E.g. I like ice-cream. However, Mary hates it.

Note that you should end the first sentence first before you start the second.

Instead of a full stop, you may use a semi-colon, after which the word starts with a small letter.

I like ice cream; however, Mary hates it.
