Misleading statistics on incinerator

I read with amusement the letter by Darren Tang of Tai Po ("Swift action needed over incinerator", March 27), accusing Lantau people of being nimbys 鄰避症候群（英语：Not In My Back Yard，NIMBY），或稱邻避综合征 (not in my backyard) for not wanting an incinerator on their doorstep.

This incinerator is of course not a nimby issue - it affects every person and every taxpayer in Hong Kong. Many of your columnists have already pointed out that the Environmental Protection Department has faked recycling rates for years, and has totally failed in any recycling and waste management plan.

The department's attempt to grab public billions for the quick fix of a huge unnecessary incinerator affects all taxpayers, and despite the department's misleading figures in the environmental impact assessment about wind direction, the pollution from the proposed incinerator will affect everyone - even people in Tai Po.

But what does amuse me is that people who start abusing others with accusations of nimby-ism always live as far away as possible from the site in question (Tai Po, for example).

Might I suggest that we coin a new pejorative term to lambast (also lambaste to criticize someone or something severely:His first novel was well and truly lambasted by the critics. )people like Mr Tang? People like him are clearly "pisebys" - preferably in someone else's backyard.
